Step no 1: Apply for a recognized institute and take a COE
The foremost step is to enroll or register at a recognized Australian university or institute. Once the applicant receives an offer letter from the institute, he should pay a tuition fee for his registration to be accepted. The institute will then send a CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment), which is required to begin the visa application process. For more than one study program, the applicant requires CoE for every single course.

Step No 2: After payment of tution fee to university Generate a HAP Id/ Health Checks on immigration portal.
Every foreign student will be required to do a complete health check-up. This information will be received after the visa application has been submitted. TRN is necessary to take a HAP Id to get the medical checks done. For the Health checks, the list of authorized /certified doctors is given on the embassy website.

Step No 3: Create an Account with the Immigration Authorities of Australia
It is an online process an applicant has to visit https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/register and create an account there.

Step No 4: Complete the Visa Application process Online
It is an online portal: https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/500-. The process has to be made at least 124 days prior to the course starts mentioned on the COE.
The applicant has to then submit his/her family details, personal details, answers regarding the previous education or work experience, health records, and Financials which include bank statements, OSHC, a valid passport,4 visa application forms, statement of purpose with evidence of GAPS in the study if any.

Step No 5: Submit the Visa application
Once the visa application has been submitted successfully, an applicant has to pay the visa fee of 710 AUD .The embassy will then allocate a TRN (Transaction Reference Number) for the application, with which the status can be tracked online.

Step No 6: Interview by the Embassy
The interview of the applicant is not a mandated process by the embassy but again if the embassy wants to talk to the applicant they may call him on the given contact number to take an interview.

Step No 7: Visa processing time & Decision
Usually, a visa takes 1 to 5 working days however in some periods due to large volume of applications it can take up to around 4 to 12 weeks to decide the case.
The decision to refuse or grant the visa application is based on the documentation and information provided by the applicant at the time of application submission. Also, the embassy can raise a request for a particular document or any application-related information and it depends on how promptly a student can reply to the information raised by the dept.
